ROME THANKSGIVING PILGRIMAGE 2023, 2024, 2025

 I lead this Thanksgiving Pilgrimage every year, especially helpful to know for guests who have to give advanced notice at work.  The dates will change year to year, but a Thanksgiving Pilgrimage will be a Thanksgiving Pilgrimage year after year.

3 - day Pilgrimage of Thanksgiving November 21 through November 23,  begins with the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, continues with the Feast Day of Santa Cecilia and ends with the Feast of San Clemente.  Morning Mass Observances and Evening Rosary Prayers.  Early Morning Risings.

First day begins with Mass at the Altar of the Presentation of Mary aka the Altar of Pope Pius X in La Basilica di San Pietro at Vatican City.  The day will be devoted to visiting mosaics, paintings and drawings depicting the Presentation of Mary at Chiesa Nuova, Santa Maria del Monti, Santa Maria degli Angeli and Cappella dell’Annunziata.  Evening Rosary at San Pietro.  

2nd day is Mass at La Basilica di Santa Cecilia in Trastevere.  This Church was built over her house so this is where Cecilia lived in Rome.  Cecilia is buried at her house church, her Altar is in a crypt underneath the main Altar.  She no longer exists as incorruptible.  Relics of both Cecilia and her husband San Valeriano are in this underground crypt.

The sculpture of Cecilia at the main Altar was made by Carlo Maderno, he sculpted her exactly as she looked in 1599 after exhumation from the Catacombs of San Callisto.  Her 2 fingers extended on her right hand and her 1 finger extended on her left hand signify the Holy Trinity.  She was martyred in the 3rd century and so prophetic, leaving behind an enduring message to the rise of the Arians as early as her time period.  Rejecting the Trinity outright, definitely ousting the Holy Spirit, Arians accepted God the Father.  Evening Rosary prayers at Santa Cecilia.

3rd day Thanksgiving Day starts with Mass at La Basilica di San Clemente, then the morning will be spent visiting the top level 12th century Church.  The afternoon will be devoted to visiting the underground layers of San Clemente, this includes the 4th century Church, the Roman House and Mithraeum and Coin Factory.  Evening Rosary at San Clemente.

You arrange your own airfare.  I arrange all transportation and hotel lodging for 4 days, beginning November 20.  I arrange for Aperitivo and Dinner on the first day, then breakfast, lunch and supper for the next 3 days.  Cooking classes also scheduled for each of 3 days for lunch or supper.

ROME OF THE TRANSPORT!

MY PILGRIMAGES ARE NOT  WALKING PILGRIMAGES.  I USE RELIABLE COURTEOUS PRIVATE TRANSPORT.  OR ROME CITY CABS WHERE NECESSARY.  I DON’T SPEND YOUR MONEY ON WALKING AND WAITING FOR CITY BUSES, MOST OF WHICH ARE LATE AND TOO CROWDED ANYWAY. MY PILGRIMAGES ARE INTENSE, COMPREHENSIVE AND THOROUGH, AND REQUIRE THE BEST USE OF TIME TO GIVE YOU THE BEST EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE.  PRIVATE TRANSPORT IS BEST BECAUSE IT’S NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE TO GET A TAXI IN ROME EVEN USING THE APPS.  WE COVER A LOT OF GROUND, EVERY EFFORT IS MADE TO CLUSTER OUR ACTIVITIES SO AS NOT TO REPEAT AND DOUBLE BACK OVER ROUTES.
